Hello There! It's nice to meet you!
Lexi and Zoe Doukakis are Greek Orthodox sisters from San Francisco, California who love to create stories!
Growing up, Lexi and Zoe have found their Orthodox faith central to their lives and identities. They believe that one is never too young to dive deep into their relationship with Christ. With their books, they aim to articulate important, theological realities of Orthodoxy and to inspire young readers to embrace their faith
and its core values.
Why Did God Make Beasts and Bugs? is their first book together and the sisters are eager to develop more children's books.

Zoe: Author

Author Zoe Doukakis is enamored with writing, where she can capture moments and ideas from real life and evoke them through colorful, vivid words. Her love for creative writing stemmed from a young age as she grew up constantly creating poems and songwriting. She recently obtained her bachelor's degree in Music at San Jose State University, where her work in sound design, vocal performance in Classical and Jazz styles, and composition has aided in crafting her ability to tell stories in various mediums. In her free time, Zoe enjoys Byzantine chanting at her parish, playing piano and guitar, and dancing! Zoe hopes to continue to write more children's books that create meaningful conversations about the faith for young readers.
Illustrator Lexi Doukakis has found herself drawing the world around her ever since she learned how to pick up a pencil. Her love for art and storytelling has led her to obtain her bachelor's degree in Cinema at San Francisco State University, where her work in animation and cinematography has further crafted her ability to create and tell stories visually. In her leisure time, Lexi likes oil painting, spending time with family, Byzantine chanting at her parish, and traveling! She hopes to expand her skills in the arts by practicing styles such as Byzantine iconography.
